Our Home Extension Services

We handle every step required for a successful home extension:

  • Constructing new foundations for additions, garages, extra rooms, or sunrooms

  • Formwork and concrete for strong, durable extensions

  • Adjusting and reinforcing existing foundations to ensure stability and safety

  • Extending the structure (walls, floors, roof) seamlessly with the existing home

  • Adding attached or detached garages with foundations and concrete slabs

  • Waterproofing and drainage to protect the new construction from moisture

  • Full project coordination with other experts from Groupe G. Lafrance

The importance of a well-designed home extension

A successful home extension is not just about adding square footage. It must integrate seamlessly with the existing structure, respect your home’s architecture, and comply with building codes. Planning or execution mistakes can lead to costly issues such as cracks, leaks, or misalignments.

FAQ – House Extension

  • The price varies depending on the size, type of extension (garage, solarium, additional floor), materials, and complexity of the project. A personalized assessment is always necessary to establish a realistic budget.

  • Yes. In most municipalities, a building permit is required for any expansion, whether it's adding a room, a garage, or a second floor. Obtaining a permit ensures that the work complies with current safety, zoning, and construction standards. Our team can assist you with these steps.

  • The most common options are:

    • Lateral extension (addition of a room or a garage)

    • Rear extension (kitchen, living room or dining room extension)

    • Adding a story (from single story to two story house)

Construction of a solarium or a 4-season veranda
Each type requires a structural analysis to ensure integration with the existing house.

  • The duration depends on the scope of the project. A small addition can take 6 to 10 weeks, while a more complex project (such as adding a floor) can take 3 to 6 months. Timeframes include site preparation, formwork and concreting, structural construction, and finishing touches.

  • In most cases, you can continue to live in the house during the renovations. However, for major projects (such as adding a floor or making large openings in the existing structure), it may be advisable to temporarily vacate for safety and comfort reasons.
